The port of Valle is the main port of the city of Porto Santo Stefano, on the west coast of Italy. The city also has another port, Porto Vecchio that is more exposed to winds and therefore used less for ferry and ship moorings. Porto Vecchio is located in the west of the city and has a quay that extends to the west called Pilarella and one that is located southeast of Domizio.
It is the oldest point of arrival into the city and was built in the seventeenth century by the Spanish, and today it hosts fishing and pleasure boats. The port played an important role under Spanish rule and at the beginning of the '900 they expanded the piers and quays and built shipyards. The port of Valle is located in the modern part of the city and it opens to the north, it is divided into three distinct areas: the industrial area for shipyards, the commercial area for fishing and ferries for the islands and the tourist area reserved for pleasure craft. How to reach Porto Santo Stefano
You can reach the port of Porto Santo Stefano by car, following the Aurelia state road to Albinia. From here follow the directions to Porto Santo Stefano, keeping to the right. Continue on the Giannella road and at the junction for Orbetello turn right and then you will reach S. Stefano harbor where the ferries are located.
By train, you will reach the Orbetello Monte Argentario railway station in the hamlet of Orbetello Scalo. This railway line is very well connected with the roads that come down from Genoa and Rome. The ferry embarkation is about 10 kilometers from the station, covered by urban buses, which are very frequent and take about 20 minutes.
The nearest airport is Fiumicino, about 150 kilometers away, or Pisa Galileo Galilei airport about 200 kilometers away. There is public transport from both airports to take you to central Pisa and Fiumicino and then trains or buses available from the centre to reach Porto Santo Stefano.
