North of the Island of Elba is Cavo, a port town on the east coast of the island. Cavo a very nice seaside town and is the closest point to the Italian coast. Take a long walk from Capo Castello to Capo della Vita to discover enchanting places, crystal blue sea and calm beaches.
What to visit
In Cavo there are the remains of a Roman villa from the first century AD. This is a place not to be missed and is located in a hilly area from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view. The building itself is surrounded by gardens full of vegetation and inside you can see original floors and mosaics.
Beaches
Cavo's beach has fine sand and it is sometimes possible to find fragments of clay and hematite h coming from the neighbouring mines which today have produced pebbles that are smoothed by the sea. The beach is equipped with every service and comfort from restaurants to sunbeds and umbrellas, ideal for any type of tourist and for families with children.
