Guide of Playa Blanca (Lanzarote)

Lanzarote is a Spanish island in the north-eastern part of the Canary archipelago, facing the coast of Morocco. Lanzarote is volcanic which gives the island a black and red colour and it was recognised by UNESCO in the 1990s. 

Places to visit

During Roman times, in 1300 a Stone Age population was discovered on the island. The climate on the island is always mild, so the island is a popular tourist destination for those looking for tranquillity and relaxation. The Timanfaya National Park offers walks through a volcanic landscape, completely devoid of vegetation characterised by red, black and oranges. The Cave of Los Verdes is worth a visit, it was formed by volcanic lava and was a refuge for pirates in the past.

Beaches

The beach of Papagayo is not to be missed, it is a deserted beach in the south of the island, where you can enjoy white sand and crystal clear waters with green hues. Although it is situated in a protected area it is possible to find refreshments nearby. La Canteria beach in the north of the island is the most popular place for surfers and on the east coast there is Las Cucharas, which is perfect for families who want to do water sports, it also has many amenities.
