The town of Porto Heli was built on the ruins of an ancient city, as discovered through many archaeological excavations. The ancient population grew rich thanks to commerce, agriculture and ceramics. Porto Heli can be considered the gateway to the beautiful Argolis region, with lush olive trees, crystal clear waters and a picturesque harbour full of traditional fishing boats. Porto Heli has many lovely restaurants and taverns where you can eat the typical Continental Greek cuisine, such as dolmades which are vine leaves rolls, garides saganaki, moussaka and baklava.
