Poros is located on the eastern side of Kefalonia, in the Ionian Sea. It is a village surrounded by rich Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful pebble beaches and crystal clear waters.
Places to visit
Poros was one of the first places on the island where a harbour was created for private boats and yachts and today it is also a port for passenger ferries coming from Killini on the mainland. You can spend a quiet holiday in Poros swimming in the beautiful sea and eating good food at the taverns and restaurants. You could also visit the monastery of Atrou, which has a splendid view. There is also an ancient Mycenaean tomb near Poros that is worth a visit.
Beaches
The closest beach to the port has white pebbles, the next beach is also pebbly with crystal clear water is slightly more sheltered and offers various amenities for tourists. Ragia beach is even quieter and is in the north, it is a wild place without tourist amenities.
