Things to do on the island

Antikythira has a rocky coast and blue sea, where you can dive and swim. There are small rock churches and ancient buildings all over the island and the remains of the temple of Apollo and Artemis. The island is known for an ancient analogue calculator, that dates back to the first century BC. There are many artifacts that have been discovered around the island, and at the beginning of the 1900s marble and bronze statues and even a strange bronze device, were found in the waters of Antikythira. Another discovery associated with the bronze device came later and after painstaking work all the pieces were put together to reveal a device that demonstrated the motion of the planets around the sun.
